A clinicostatistical analysis was performed 81 cases, (male 43, female 38) of histopathologically confirmed neurilemmoma at the department of clinical pathology laboratory at SNUH. for past 10 years (from Jan, 1962 to Feb, 1972)
The results obtained were as follows:
1) As to the sex distribution there was no sexual difference in frequency (the ratio 1.1:1), but in head and neck portion female (17 cases) was more than male (11 cases).
2) As to the age distribution they were distributed almost evenly at any decade, between 9 years of age at youngest and 66 years of age at oldest. The same result was obtained in head and neck portion.
3) The site of neurilemmoma was more frequent in the head and neck (34.6%), spinal cord, chest and lower extremities in order. Acoustic neuroma was the most frequent in head and neck portion.
4) Almost all of the cases had solitary lesion (79 cases, 97.5%). The same result was obtained in the head and neck.(96.4%)
5) The duration of disease (from the time of onset to the first visit) falls on at shortest 2 months, at longest 10 years, but that between 2 and 5 years was most frequent (31 cases, 38. 3%). The same result was obtained in head and neck.
6) Histopathologically specific Verocay body was noted in 19 cases, myxoid degeneration in 47 cases and both in 6 cases.
